This guide will help you install and configure the LiteSpeed Cache plugin on your WordPress site. At Sered, we have LiteSpeed servers, which allows you to take full advantage of all the benefits of this powerful plugin. LiteSpeed Cache is the ideal tool to optimize your website’s performance, reduce loading times, and improve your visitors’ experience. Throughout this guide, we will go step by step, from installation to a recommended and safe configuration, designed to achieve the best balance between speed, stability, and compatibility.
🔹 Step 1: Installation and Connection (The Mandatory Start)
Install the plugin
Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
Go to 👉 Plugins > Add New.
Search for LiteSpeed Cache.
Click on Install Now and then Activate.
⚠️ Important: If you have another cache plugin installed (such as WP Rocket, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, etc.), it is essential that you deactivate and delete it. Having two cache plugins active at the same time will cause errors and malfunction of your site.
Connect with QUIC.cloud
To take full advantage of LiteSpeed Cache, you need to connect it with QUIC.cloud, its free cloud service.
QUIC.cloud acts as an “external booster” that handles the heaviest tasks: image optimization, critical CSS generation, global CDN usage, and more.
When you activate the plugin, a pop-up window may appear. Click on the blue button Enable QUIC.cloud Services and then create or link your free QUIC.cloud account.
If you don’t see the pop-up, go to LiteSpeed Cache > General from the WordPress Dashboard and enable it there.
✅ Why it’s important: without this connection, you won’t be able to use key features such as image optimization, the global CDN, or CSS/JS improvements.
🔹 Step 2: Automatic Configuration with Presets (The Quick and Safe Way)
LiteSpeed Cache includes Presets: pre-defined configurations that can be applied with one click.
Go to 👉 LiteSpeed Cache > Presets.
Choose one of the levels:
Essentials: enables only the main cache, longer TTL, and browser cache. Very safe, ideal for new or simple sites.
Basic: includes everything from “Essentials” and adds image optimization and mobile cache. Requires QUIC.cloud connection.
Advanced (⭐ Recommended): the perfect balance between speed and compatibility. Adds CSS/JS/HTML minification, font optimization, JS defer, DNS prefetch, emoji removal, and more. This is the recommended setting for most sites.
Aggressive: combines CSS and JS, adds critical CSS, and lazy loads iframes. May improve speed further but sometimes breaks styles or functions.
Extreme: the highest optimization level. Includes advanced Lazy Load, JS delay, and more. Usually requires testing and exclusions to avoid problems in graphic elements.
⚠️ After applying any preset, check your website in incognito mode to ensure everything (menus, forms, sliders, animations) works correctly.
👉 Our recommendation: Start with Advanced. If you notice compatibility issues, switch to a lower level such as Basic.
🔹 Step 3: Image Optimization (The Big Speed Boost)
Images are one of the main factors affecting loading speed. LiteSpeed Cache allows you to optimize them and generate versions in modern formats such as WebP and AVIF.
Recommended settings in LiteSpeed Cache > Image Optimization > Image Optimization Settings:
Automatic cron request → ✅ ON
Optimize original images → ✅ ON
Remove original backups → 🚫 OFF
Lossless optimization → ✅ ON
Preserve EXIF/XMP data → ✅ ON
Next-gen image format → ✅ WebP (or AVIF if you have a paid plan in QUIC.cloud)
Replacement attribute for WebP/AVIF → leave default values.
WebP/AVIF for additional srcset → ✅ ON
👉 Once configured, save the changes and go to the Image Optimization Summary tab, then send the images for optimization (Send Optimization Request).
⚠️ Important about disk space
When LiteSpeed generates WebP or AVIF versions, it does not delete the original files. This means each image will have multiple copies in different formats, which can increase disk usage on your hosting. Keep this in mind if your plan has limited storage.
💡 Tip: enable only WebP if you want to save space, and use AVIF only if you want maximum compression and quality, knowing it takes more space. (AVIF is available if you have a paid plan in QUIC.cloud).
🔹 Step 4: Database Maintenance
Over time, WordPress accumulates revisions, drafts, and spam.
Go to 👉 LiteSpeed Cache > Database.
Use these safe options:
Post revisions
Auto drafts
Trashed posts
Spam comments
Trashed comments
Trackbacks/Pingbacks
💡 Tip: Perform this cleanup every 2–3 months.
🔹 Step 5: Clear the Cache and Verify Results
Think of the cache as your website’s “short-term memory.” When you make changes (update text, change an image, modify the design, etc.), that memory may continue to display the old version until it is emptied. The process of emptying it is called “purging the cache.”
📌 When to do it:
Whenever you make design, content, or configuration changes.
If you don’t see changes reflected when opening your site in an incognito window, it’s also recommended to manually purge the cache.
How to purge:
You can also go to 👉 LiteSpeed Cache > Tools > Purge > Purge All.
🔍 After purging the cache, open your site in an incognito window and check that the changes are displayed correctly. Review both design (menus, forms, sliders, visual styles) and performance (loading times and smoothness).
✅ Congratulations! Your Success Checklist
If you’ve made it this far, your website is now optimized at a professional level. Here’s a quick summary to keep at hand:
LiteSpeed Cache installed and activated.
Connection with QUIC.cloud established.
Advanced preset applied and website checked.
